Dear colleagues,
As a result of continuing growth and new opportunities the TNO Institute
for Traffic and Transport, Logistics and Regional Development (TNO Inro)
in the Netherlands, is now looking to recruit a new researcher. This
post is within the field of traffic modelling.
TNO Inro, from its base in Delft (between The Hague and Rotterdam),
performs research into and gives advice on traffic, transport,
cross-company logistics, regional economics and spatial planning and the
relationship between environment and health. TNO Inro has a
multidisciplinary structure and is home to approximate 90 econometrists,
traffic experts, economists, mathematicians, urban and rural planners,
environmental-health scientists and information scientists. This
structure and the embedding of all this expertise in TNO guarantees an
integral approach, within which various aspects can be involved, such as
technology, behavioural aspects, health and perception issues,
environment and sustainability, spatial planning and administrative
aspects. The emphasis in our work is on the innovative nature of the
demand, solution or application. TNO Inro performs assignments for
government bodies, the European Union and the private sector.
We are looking for someone with five to ten years experience, able to
develop and acquire new international projects, a focus to apply traffic
models on real world problems and capable to lead a small group of young
and talent full researchers. One of the growing areas concerns the
development and application of mathematical models for road traffic
modelling. In our development work there is an emphasis on new
intelligent systems at the road and in the vehicle, as well as on
cooperation with experts on driving behaviour vehicle modelling, etc.
The application work is oriented to studying real-world problems. We are
looking for someone with five to ten years experience, amongst others in
model development, who is able to develop and acquire new international
projects, has an interest to apply traffic models on real world problems
and is capable to lead a small group of young and talented researchers.
Closing date for applications is 30 April 2004. Full details available
