PhD post at Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University, The Netherlands for
the project "Dynamics in commuting, leisure trips and spatial configurations"
This PhD project examines the impact of the widespread use of new
Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), individualization of
activity patterns, greater opportunities for long distance trips, and
changes in preferences for residential environments on the locations of
homes and workplaces, and destination and transport mode choice for work
and leisure activities. The main goal of this research project is to
ascertain the magnitude of future changes in the locational, temporal, and
travel demands and the impact of these dynamics on spatial configurations
of urbanization.
We are looking for someone with the ambition to submit in 3-4 years a PhD
dissertation. You may qualify for this position if your masters degree is
in urban geography, transportation, urban planning or related discipline.
You have demonstrable expertise in quantitative research. We expect you to
be proficient in English, writing it clearly and speaking it fluently.
We offer a full time job for a period of four years (part-time (0,8) is
optional) conditional upon an evaluation after one year. The project start
at the 1st of June. Calculated on a full-time basis, your gross monthly
salary will start with Euro 1702 in the first year increasing to Euro 2394
in the fourth year.
