Conference - Road Pricing: The Way Forward
This 2-day conference, taking place on 24-25 February 2004 in London,
will provide a unique insight into the practical aspects of developing
and implementing road pricing schemes. Presentations will be given by
Elena Kopanezou, the European Commission's Head of Unit (DG TREN), Ken
Livingstone - champion of the successful congestion charging scheme in
London, Magnus Carle, manager of the proposed Stockholm scheme and the
UK Department for Transport's Eric Sampson.
City representatives from the PRoGRESS project (www.progress-project.org
<http://www.progress-project.org/> ) and experts from the parallel CUPID
project (www.transport-pricing.net <http://www.transport-pricing.net/> )
will jointly lead a series of practically-focused workshops on issues
such as scheme design, the application of technology, the social
implications of road pricing schemes, and stakeholder consultation and
user acceptance. The event will conclude with a panel discussion on the
future of road pricing in Europe.
