European Transport Conference: 4 - 6 October 2004
Details of the European Transport Conference are now available on the

The Conference will again be held in Strasbourg, France, which proved to be
a popular location for the 2003 Conference. The location, venue and content
of the conference received an exceptionally high level of satisfaction.
This year's programme contains over 250 presentations in seminars on the
following subjects:
* Transport research programmes - trans-national, national and
regional
* Planning for sustainable land-use and transport
* Integration of land-use and transport - reducing car dependency,
environmental appraisal
* Interurban travel - road, rail, bus and air - planning, financing
and operation
* Urban transport systems - walking, cycling, public transport,
signing, control systems
* Transport safety - all modes - research, policy, risk assessment
* Applied transport methods and methodological innovations
* Freight transport and logistics
* Management and operation of public transport
* Transport and travel aspects of tourism policy
There will be also some keynote, invited speakers, including Professor Ennio
Cascetta, formerly of the University of Naples, who is now Transport
Assessore for the Campania Region of Italy. He will speak on "The use of
models in the formation of transportation policies: some experiences in
Campania region"
Vacancies exist for seminar stewards. Stewards receive free attendance in
return for assistance in a seminar on one day of the conference, but they
have to find their own funding for travel and accommodation.
