Background
-----------------
The Centre for Transport & Society aims to improve and promote
understanding of the inherent links between lifestyles and personal travel
in the context of continuing social and technological change.
We have a growing team of staff and research students bringing a range of
disciplines to bear on our research activities including: civil
engineering; geography; regional and urban planning; environmental
politics; anthropology, philosophy; environmental and experimental
psychology; sociology; and information systems.
CTS offers a lively, supportive and diverse training environment for
research students. The Centre holds regular team meetings and internal
research seminars as well as running a reading group. Full details about
the research we engage in can be found on our website at
www.transport.uwe.ac.uk. The Faculty of the Built Environment in which CTS
resides is also establishing a new Graduate School to be in place for the
new academic year - this will be a dedicated facility for postgraduate
research and teaching students which will further enhance the research
training environment.
