Director of Digital Curation Centre

The University of Edinburgh is recruiting a full-time Director for the Digital Curation Centre (DCC), the first Centre of its kind, see http://www.dcc.ac.uk/. Digital curation is a developing field, embracing all aspects of data management in support of science and scholarship, for both present and future generations. The aim of the DCC is to improve quality, through the development of common technological and procedural bases. With an initial annual budget of over £1 million from JISC and the eScience Programme, the Centre will provide national support for all aspects of digital curation with an international focus for both practice and research.

RCP/HIU Symposium on the Governance of Medical Research Databases

The Health Informatics Unit of the Royal College of Physicians is hosting a symposium on the issues surrounding the Governance of Medical Research
Databases, such as the BioBank initiative. The symposium will address two
main themes:
. How to ensure consistency through the various regulatory bodies
. How to co-ordinate the operations of appropriate oversight bodies
The meeting will include plenty of time for discussion of these topics.
