dear Karen,
new sociological discussions are centered not only on systemic theory
and postmodernist approaches but also on globalisation, globality and
glocalisation (Roland Robertson, Ulrich Beck, Appadurai and others)
As far as I know there are no major publications on implications for
translation studies so far.
some aspects have been dealt with in
Schäffner, Christina 2000: Translation in the Global Village.
Multilingual Matters
but not so much on a theoretical basis. This would be a rewarding focus
for further research in translation studies.
