And yet we are more besides
something that endures
when nothing else abides
an ineffable something that can never die
and though the world seems lost
in violence and dross, the jetsam
that can be so easily tossed away,
on quite nights we hear a song
that wafts and pounds against an unknown shore.
And it is this shore that draws us all
toward a stormless sea.
