Cheers
It started with the sherry in the trifle
just a little sip to help me through the day.
Then someone said I shouldn’t
flame the Christmas puddin
though rum would take the taste of turkey far away
but I found a dash of this
went perfect with a kiss
and rum truffles made me giggle with the wine.
Then someone poured me whisky
which he knew would make me frisky
so I’d better be careful of the swine
Then just to feel secure
I tried a strong liqueur
and let my can of lager cool upon the ice
then I tippled sauce into the brandy
and quenched my thirst on bitter shandy
which of course tasted very very nice.
Then a glass of port went well
with the Stilton, but I couldn’t tell
when my legs began to wobble and to sway
So now I’m feeling sleepy
and very very weepy
for Christmas is fading far away
Now the day has almost ended
and the food and booze has blended
with mulled wine and champagne
and gin and tonic
So I’ll leave the dishes in the sink
and maybe just have one more drink
for I have become a Christmas alcoholic.
