Green Christmas
I’m dreaming of a green Christmas
just like the ones I used to know
when there wasn’t packing
or any wrapping
and real firelight used to glow.
I’m dreaming of a green Christmas
with every card I never write
when there wasn’t litter
only stars to glitter
to brighten up the winter night.
I’m dreaming of a green Christmas
when love was all we need to know
when there was joy and laughter
happy ever after
and all our thoughts were pure as snow.
I'm dreaming of a green Christmas
when the only bauble was the moon
now our tear drops glisten
as we strain to listen
to earth's rythmns played in tune.
So may your days be many and green
and may no more plastic bags be seen.
