I've been following this and feel that "running amok"
is crucial because of the ambiguity it brings. Firstly
the ambiguity of whether its the voices running amok
or the person.
Also because the narrator is very close to the point
of view of the patient there's the question of whether
his idea of amok is the same as other people's and
whether we rely on him as a narrator.
I don't know whether the mental health system is doing
the right thing to protect the public and the
character or whether they are over officious and
fiurther damaging.
All this gives the poem areas of grey - and this
reader for one likes that!
