I've not had anything quite like that, but recently, I had a poem published
in an anthology. A couple of people at work asked to see it, so I brought in
a copy, and although they both claimed to be "not into poetry", they found
something nice to say about it. Another colleague overheard and came over
and had a look. Her only comment was "it's not very long, is it?" in rather
aggrieved tones.
I wasn't really sure how to answer that.
Otherwise, I've had quite a lot of "but it doesn't even rhyme".
Still, serves me right for asking my mum.

What's the rudest, most dismissive comment you've had on a poem (or have
given, or read on a workshop)? I've just had this doozy one-line crit for
'Spanish Fleas' on Eratosphere:
"This deadly boring and tiresomely bigoted poem is fairly well written."
LOL!
Kind regards,
grasshopper
