The 5th International Space Syntax Conference
The 5th International Space Syntax Symposium will be held at the Faculty of
Architecture, TU Delft in 13-17 June 2005. This important event is held
every second year. Interest in and attendance at the conference is growing
as increasing numbers of young researchers from all over the world are using
space syntax in their research projects and PhD theses. Space syntax is just
one of several innovative approaches to research on built form and urban
environments, and the conference provides an opportunity to exchange and
discuss new ideas, methods, or research fields and to receive appropriate
feedback from others. More information can be found on www.spacesyntax.com
<http://www.spacesyntax.com> and www.spacesyntax.org and the congress
website: www.spacesyntax.tudelft.nl <http://www.spacesyntax.tudelft.nl>.
The contributions from the participants of the conference are on an
international level. The latest developments in scientific methods and
theories about the built environment will be demonstrated and discussed by
leading figures in the field. The conference proceeding will be published by
the Delft University Press.
It is of importance that the discussion on sustainable methods in the field
of architecture and urbanism is carried out at a high scientific level.
The International Steering Committee for the Symposium is now issuing this
call for material to be presented at the conference, under three categories:
a) Short papers with posters; b) Software, computation, representation; c)
Long papers.
As with the previous symposia, papers may deal with Modern Architecture and
Urban Design, Urban Analysis, Complex Buildings, Domestic Space,
Applications in other Fields, Applications in Design, and Theoretical or
Methodological Developments.
Papers are invited on the topics where morphological or configurative
approaches are used in design, software development and research: Abstracts
of no more than 400 words should be submitted to Akkelies van Nes; e-mail:
