The Social Policy Association is currently developing a series of regional
networks to promote social policy, both as an area of teaching, and as a
field of research. SWAPltsn is providing support to the pilot development
of a region for the South West of the UK.
The remit for the regional network is wide, recognising that some academics
use alternative terms to define their interests, and seeking to include
academics who are not currently SPA members, as well as post-graduate
students.
The South-West UK regional network aims to:
· Provide a forum in which academics in the South-West of the UK can
explore ways of developing undergraduate and post-graduate courses that are
shared by two or more institutions, or of contributing teaching to each
others' courses
· Offer opportunities for research collaboration
· Explore issues pertinent to the policy agenda of the South-West UK
· Develop links with practitioners in local government, health and social
care services and voluntary organisations in the South West
These aims could be met through a range of means, including:
· a one-day conference on social policy teaching and research in the
South-West of the UK
· a mailing list
· a contact list indicating areas of interest
· a mailbase discussion list
· seminars and other events organised by institutions or individuals
We would like you to indicate
1. Whether you think this would be a useful resource? YES / NO
2. What kind of activities you would be interested in? PLEASE LIST
