Dear all
Could anybody help me with information about the reception of
Engels's Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State and/or
Johann Jakob Bachofen's work on the theory of ancient matriarchy
(one of Engels's sources) in pre- and post-revolutionary Russia? I'm
looking at the reception of Bachofen and/or Engels in the writing of
history and especially in literary production from the late 19th to
the mid-20th century, particularly with regard to the use of material
drawn from myth. I'd be interested to know if, for example, Russian
feminists and/or antifeminists drew on Bachofen in historical
studies.
Many thanks for your help
Peter Davies
