I think the point is many people respond better to emails in their inbox
and might not regularly scan particular websites! I'm not sure that
everyone is invtited to the alpha galileo party for example, so may
not look at a public events listing? Web events lists are also notorious
(in general) for not being updated when last minute changes occur. So if
posting something to a web based events list why not mail it out on here
at the same time for a better response?
