University of the West of England, Bristol
Faculty of Applied Sciences
PhD Studentship - Science Communication
A PhD studentship is available to examine the interactions between the
various actors involved in controversies over climate change and energy
sources and how these actors colonise the media space. It is envisaged that
the project will make some comparisons between the UK, France (with a high
use of nuclear energy) and Denmark (which uses more renewable sources of
energy). Some proficiency in French or Danish, would therefore, be an
advantage.
Outline project details are available on at www.uwe.ac.uk/fas/research
Applicants are asked to submit a hard copy of their curriculum vitae and
contact details of two referees to Vicky Elvins, Faculty of Applied
Science, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour
Lane, Bristol, BS16 1QY by 6th August 2004.
Candidates will be invited for interview during 23rd August – 24th
September, so please indicate your availability in the covering letter that
accompanies your application. Studentships are available from October 1st
2004 for a period of 3-years, subject to satisfactory progress, and attract
a tax exempt stipend of £11,000 pa. If you have not heard from us by 20th
August, we thank you for your application but do not wish to pursue it on
this occasion.
