The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the leading national charity fighting
heart and circulatory disease - the UK’s biggest killer. The BHF funds
research, education and life-saving equipment and helps heart patients
return to a full and active way of life. Our cutting edge Marketing and
Communications Division is looking for two ambitious PR professionals to
join our award winning team.
Press and PR Officer - Medical & Education Press Team
Can you turn medical research papers into potential lead stories? Can you
find the right case studies to illustrate the work of the BHF? We’re now
looking for a top flight Press & PR Officer to promote cutting edge
research, education and care projects. You will need at least 2 years’
experience in Press & PR, gained either in-house or with an agency. You
must be a fast and accurate communicator, used to handling ‘hot stories’
and have a successful track record of selling in to a range of media. A
good understanding of current medical issues is desirable – experience of
writing clear, concise and creative copy plus an ability to unravel complex
issues and identify a strong news angle are essential.
Being able to juggle a heavy workload while maintaining a sense of humour
is also a must!
This role requires good IT skills with knowledge of Word and Excel. An out-
of-hours press office service is operated by the PR team on a rota basis.
