Apologies for the late sending of this workshop notification - there are still a few places left for both the morning and afternoon session.
Dear colleague,
Did you know that the Wellcome Trust, a major funder of biomedical research, also funds research and activities to the value of £3 million per year to stimulate public interest in biomedical science?
We are running Engaging Science workshops to:
* inform you about this grants programme;
* show you examples of previous projects;
* outline details of the application process
* announce the new Society Award themes
Bristol 10 Nov 2004 The Create Centre, BS1 6XN
To book please e-mail [log in to unmask]
There will be two workshops held at the following times: 10.00-12.30 or 14.00-16.30
On booking, please include your contact information and specify any special requirements you may have. Once your booking is received you will be sent an e-mail booking confirmation within two weeks. Please note that places are limited and that there is no charge for this workshop.
Why is the money available?
So people like you can arrange and produce:
* workshops, talks, discussions and events in public venues;
* arts projects for a variety of different audiences and age groups;
* teaching materials or techniques to stimulate wider discussion;
* activities of another format.
What should these activities achieve?
These activities should:
* stimulate public interest in biomedical science;
* inform and facilitate public debate about biomedical science;
* improve understanding of the social, ethical, historical and cultural context of biomedical science.
We particularly welcome novel and imaginative projects - as well as collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches. Partnerships, for example, between scientists and artists, or ethicists and educators are encouraged. Projects involving partnerships with other organizations may also be funded.
Future workshops
