I didn't find the ad offensive - it actually gave a pretty good feel for
the style of presenter they are after. What is is kind of disappointing
is that this continues to be the kind of presenter they are looking for,
and if this programme is anything like the ones that get made over here,
she will be chosen for sass and smile rather than actual science
background or presenting skills.
This attitude was highlighted recently when our tabloid-est TV news
programme took the brave step of running with two female readers, rather
than the tried and true male/female pair. I and my sassy friends
applauded the risk, until we heard the voice over in the promotion:
"News never looked so good".
