THIRD CULTURE: CLASS OF 2004
This September, Seed will publish its second annual "Third Culture" issue,
presenting the icons and iconoclasts who redefined science in the past year.
Seedıs editors are working hard to compile a list of candidates from
the sciences, arts, and humanities, but would like to call on you for
assistance.
We are looking for people whose work is at the vanguard. They may be
researchers
who are making waves as activists, educators, writers, or in some other
capacity
"outside the lab," researchers who are breaking ground in their fields, or
non-scientists (artists, playwrights, policy makers, entrepreneurs,
philosophers
etc.) who have embraced science in their professional or personal lives.
Put most simply, they are:
- Up-and-comers (~ 40 years of age and under);
- People with exceptional ideas relating to science;
- People who are currently having an impact on our culture through their
ideas.
We want to hear about the people youıve encountered at conferences or dinner
parties who have left a lasting impression. We want to hear about people
whose work youıve been inspired by. I hope that you will support us in this
endeavor and look forward to your response. The submission deadline is June
4, 2004.
Please see the attached pdf for more information about Seed and selections
from our inaugural Third Culture issue.
Thank you and all the best,
Lindsay Borthwick
