SCOPE AND GOALS
===============
UML-based software development can be considered as a modeling process.
Software development process yields a partially ordered set of UML models
that should be inter-consistent. The problem is how to define relationship
between models reflecting the property. Similar problem relates to elements
of individual model that should be intra-consistent.
Different kinds of dependency relationships are used to describe
relationships between models and their elements.
However, the meaning of the UML dependency and their specializations are
still not precisely defined. It rises the problem how to understand and how
to check consistency between modeling artifacts.
The workshop relates both to UML as well as to process modeling with UML.
Consistency problems in UML-based software development process rises from the
lack of precise definition of dependency relationships. In consequence, there
are practical problems how to transform models to preserve their consistency
and how to develop programming tools that would be able to check consistency
between models and within a given model written on different level of
abstraction.
The primary goals of the workshop are:
* to achieve a consensus on understanding of the notion of dependency
relationship,
* to elaborate precise definitions of different kinds of dependency
relationships,
* to present experience and recommendations for proper use of dependency
relationship in software development process.

TOPICS
======
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Dependency relationships in software development –
their roles and examples of usage.
* Formalization of dependency relationship within and between artefacts,
more specifically between diagrams and models.
* Checking consistency between diagrams and models with respect to a given
dependency relationship.
* The usage of dependency relationships in real ongoing projects.
* Dependency relationships with respect to consistency problems in software
development.
* Software development process from the perspective of consistency.
* Consistent transformation and refinement of UML models/diagrams
* Identification and formalization of other consistency problems in software
development and the impact of UML 2.0.

PARTICPANTS
===========
The workshop is address mainly to software developers and designers of
modeling tools for software development.
The first group of participants should be interested in developing of
consistent models while the second one – in enhancing functionality of
existing CASE tools.
Additionally, the workshop outcomes may be valuable for UML developers in
progress on UML formalization works.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
=====================
Prospective participants are invited to submit around 8 page position papers
in IEEE format.
Submitted papers must be in PDF format and should be submitted to:

The accepted papers will be included in the workshop materials.
Additionally, enhanced version of the selected papers will be included in a
special section of the Journal on Software and Systems Modeling.
