Origami Mathematics - Armed with a simple piece of paper you can defy
the ancient greeks and trisect the angle and double the cube! This
excellent and detailed site explains the mathematics of paper folding,
including geometry, how origami compares to straight edge and compass
constructions, and even points the way to paper folding in the fourth
dimension! There are also many photos of some of the beautiful shapes
possible, and links to other origami maths sites.

Maria Gaetana Agnesi - Born 16 May 1718, Died 9 January 1799 Milan, Italy.
Agnesi showed remarkable intellectual skill from an early age - including
publishing, at age 9, an argument defending higher education for women
- and went on to excel in mathematics, and publish a text book in
differential calculus regarded as the best of its time. She was
offered a chair in mathematics at the University of Bologna, but
devoted her final years to charitable work. Her name survives in the
famous cubic curve, the 'witch of agnesi'.
