looking at how to develop original writing, workshop techniques and giving

Poets Anonymous - 9th Poetry Plus festival Croydon, Surrey on 17th and

Saturday 17 July at the Braithwaite Hall, Croydon Clocktower,
Katharine Street, Croydon, 7.30-10pm. An evening of invited poets, plus an
open mike in the bar. Poets lined up at the moment are Keith Bennett, Wendy
French and Christopher Logue.
Sunday 18 July at the Fairfield Hotel, Lansdowne Road, Croydon, 11am -
9.30pm. Poets reading include Adam Horovitz, Jean Sprackland and Attila the
Stockbroker. There are workshops in the morning led by Keith Bennett and
Brain Dann, a poetry poster competition, the ever-popular aeronautical
poetry competition, plus plenty of reading slots which can be pre-booked and
an open-mike.

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2004.
The Poetry Society with support from the Foyle Foundation, to offer
young poets an opportunity to study alongside leading contemporary poets
Moniza Alvi and Mario Petrucci on a prizewinner's course at the The Arvon
Foundation, Lumb Bank, West Yorkshire. The competition is free to enter.
Any writer between the ages of 11 and 18 can enter the Foyle Young
Poets of
the Year Award 2004 by sending their poem or poems on A4 paper with
their
name, address, school and date of birth written clearly on the reverse
of
every sheet to Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2004, The Poetry
Society, 22 Betterton Street, London WC2H 9BX. Poems can also be sent by
email to [log in to unmask] Poets can enter as many poems as they
choose, of any length and on any theme.
All winners and runners-up will receive book prizes donated by
publishers
Bloodaxe and Faber & Faber, plus free youth membership of the Poetry
