hello All.
I hold the OHNC, a Dip(HE) OH and the BA(HOns) in Nursing Studies(OH.
When the specialist practitioner status was dreamt up. all thos who already
held any of the above qualifications were given specialist practitioner
status by the UKCC.
For several years, I ran a Dip(HE) OH/GP programme, however, because it had
GP in the title, the then ENB wouldn't accredit as an OH programme, and thus
it was not a recordable qualification. You can call yourself a specialist
OH practitioner, but it was not a recordable qualification.
personally, I don't agree with the requirement that every single OHN must
have the specialist qualification - it was originally meant to identify
those who headed a team. IT was the OH profession themselves who decided
that everyone must have the specialist level, and look at the mess it has
created.
Luckily, most employers are not bothered by the specialist level -
A qualification can only be recorded if it has been validated and accredited
by the ENB/NMC I understood that in future, only the baseline registration
qualifications were to be recorded ie RGN, RM RMN etc. have I got it wrong?
Cheers,
Nancy
