Thanks James.
May I ask, how does this work with weekends, nights and bank holidays? Do you provide a 24hour service? How many staff are you responsible for and how big is your OH service to cover this?

Subject: Re: Sickness Absence[Scanned]
Tracey,
The company I provide OH services to has a policy whereby OH staff telephone employees who have earlier rung in sick on their first day. We simply ask why they are off, do they need any assistance, are they going to see their GP etc? In addition, if we find out they have a musculoskeletal problem we are able to fast track them immediately for Functional Testing and physio, osteopathy or chiropractic if necessary. The unions have no problem with this, neither do the employees, nor do I. When I first came here, I thought it was a bit over the top, but it does help employees to get quick treatment where needed and the absence rate here last month just a tad over 2.5%.
With kind regards,
James Beresford
