Hi Paul, as long ago as 1996 when I worked for BNA I was required to provide
proof of my Hep B status. Just thought this may be of interest for you. Kind
regards, Sue Mclaren http://www.ohnurse.co.uk

Subject: Re: Agency Staff and Hep B
I believe agencies have recently been instructed to check the hep B
status of all the nursing staff on their book. We have had many
requests from individual staff to recheck their status even though their
status is sufficient for Trust work. We have also been approached by
agencies to perform tests for their staff.
I do not know if it is the local authority or Primary Care trust
issuing this instruction.

Hello all,
your advice and opinions on a confidential matter please. I'm having
issues
with an agency who employ nurses for whom we do PEHS. They are
becoming
more and more insistant on having a level for Hepatitis B for staff,
almost
to the degree that they have to have a blood test taken regardless of
past
vaccination.
I have explained that whilst this is best practice to get people
covered,
it is not compulsory, and to take and test blood for someone who may
never
have had a vaccine is ridiculous and a waste of time and money,
especially
as none of them undertake EPP.
Before I compose my written response to the agency can I ask if anyone
else
is having the same issues??
regards,
Glenn Raybone
