I have come across several cases such as this.
From what you have said she is working too many hours and needs to reduce
her hours further and extend the phased return.
When we assess the our individuals we also take into account what the
individual does at home and how and distance she travels to get to
work....Like most of us she feels she is super women and takes on too much
not giving herself time to heal both physically and mentally.

Subject: Lymphodema
Hi,
Please could someone advise me. I have an employee who returned to work 2
months ago following Mastectomy ( surgery& radiotherapy 1 year ago). Her
role is office based and involves a significant proportion of DSE work. She
is still on a phased return and has had the amount of DSE work restricted.
However, last week this lady developed a frozen shoulder and lymphodema in
her L arm ( she is left handed) and is struggling with pain and restricted
movement. She is having physio and is under the supervision of her
specialist, but neither have made any recommendations regarding her work.
She is keen to remain in work and I think pyschologically it would be
particularly detrimental if she had to go off sick again. Has anyone dealt
with a simular case and how did you manage to keep the employee in work
without further exacerbation of the condition?
Thank you in anticipation of your responses.
Giuliana
