From Anglian Water
Hi Amanda
Its the colour that attracts wasps and beasties! Perhaps a repellent and if his reaction is severe enough, he should have an adrenaline syringe with him, not be subjected to lone working during the summer and make sure his mate is fully aware of his predicament.
Changing the colour of the vest/ jacket may not be the best idea if he is in a safety critical situation (i.e.: highways) as yellow is the most noticeable of all the hi vis wear. There is some research to support this, I can't quite remember where though, but I looked into it a few years ago on another matter.
Best wishes
Mary

Hi Folks,
bit of a strange one here.
I have an employee who works on the roadside & has a allergy to wasp
stings. I have been told by his manager that the Hi Vis jacket he wears is
know to attract wasps & bees! Does anyone know of any research that has
been done in the field, or has anyone else had a similar case, if so what
did you do?
Many Thanks
Manda
