I have found that students like to be able to relate what they see with what they are learning. I would suggest that they are introduced to the management of blood borne virus policies and understand the immunisation programmes and how the schedules work.
If they sit in on management/self referrals, they should understand the attendance management policy for the trust and the role of OH in assessing fitness for work and supporting the individual on behalf of the employer. Here they could also learn about the importance of comprehensive and accurate record keeping. It also offers an opportunity to discuss the realities of medical confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
Obviously there is loads more, but I think that over 2 days, it is unlikely they will pick up lung function testing and audio enough, but it is a bit of fun for them to do these, as they only need to be done by a technician.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance in this matter.
