Ann
I try and make it clear to the company, usually HR, in some
cases there is no HR as smallish companies, that the
employee will receive a copy of my report as well. Most
employers are happy with this, and on a couple of occasions
I have had the HR manager ask me to phone them to read
through the report prior to sending - I don't have a problem
with that.
I personally feel that by the employee receiving a copy of
the OH report works for all, as the employer knows that the
employee knows what is in the report and there is no mistake
on the OH advice given.
The only downside is the cost of the postage as I usually
send employee's copy to their home address!
I did have a problem a few weeks ago where HR wanted me
to e-mail the report, and they were being
particularly 'pushy'. I think there may have been a hidden
agenda. I again explained that the contractual agreement is
to have the report within 72 hours from seeing the employee
and they had the report within 48 hours, but sent by post.
I, personally still like to have control over my OH
reports, and e-mail is difficult to have that.
Interesting debate.
Cheers
Clare
