I'm not sure how they can they can control the consultations, is there a
rep. sitting in on each one? Anyway it sounds like you have your work cut
out
We have good relationships with the unions reps who quite often come in to
ask general questions. Sounds like your workforce is very militant and there
needs to be a culture change- stating the obvious I know.
I think your best starting point is to meet up with them, probably involving
HR as well but I would definitely try and involve their area officials who
might have a bit more understanding of what is right and wrong or acceptable
level of input, indeed if they should have any input with the OH side of it.
I would then lay out what you would expect their involvement is and why the
can't dictate/be involved with/get information from the medical or the
advice/information it generates.
At the end of the day the outcome of consultations don't have to be liked by
the individual or the employer but it should be the right thing to do
Regards
Craig
