Hi Marianne
We do exactly the same as the response below. We have even had a stamp made saying 'Not for Exposure Prone Procedures' as we are using the term so often.
We will soon be asking for a Hep B surface antigen result from all staff who perform EPP's.
Hope that helps.

Hi
We accept lab reports provided they are good, readable copies or originals in English. If the doctor is performing EPPS then we only accept them if they are stamped IVS by an occupational health dept. We do HepB, Rubella, Varicella, and Hep C [if doing EPPS]. We check scars or ask for copies from an occupational health dept of Heafing and result, if none of these we do heaf test.
We insist on this for any doctor about to commence work on the Island regardless of length of stay as then we have evidence if they return again in the future and we have details of imms status for tracking purposes if there is a problem in the future. We feel that many agency locums are missing out on these assessments as they move about so frequently and if they refuse to provide suitable test results or blood we don't let them do EPPS. Harsh but there you go - we have had two agency locums refuse in the past 3 weeks.
Hope this is of help.
Su

Hello
I am repeating this enquiry as I had little response last time I sent it (but thanks to those that did contact me) - 2 weeks ago or so- but feel sure that some of you may be able to help, especially those that work in NHS or Universities.
* What proof, if any, do you accept from medical students and doctors from anywhere overseas about their status re hepatitis B Immunity and titre level and surface antigen.
* Do you also ask for proof of testing for Hep C or HIV?
* What about TB- do you accept written evidence of a recent negative Heaf or Mantoux or do you retest?
* Also Rubella and varicella immunity?
* Do you accept different standards of proof from students who are only visiting for short 1-2 months electives or treat them the same as those who are staff?
I'd appreciate any information you can give -thanks!
