My apologies - just checked what I printed off and only the Chapters 25&
34 have draft on them. Have you checked out the "what's new?" section -
Chapter 1. Not all the chapters have changed but if you go to
www.doh.gov.uk/greenbook it does show u which ones have.
As I said before, the DoH does seem to contradict themselves on Hep B
boosters in what it says in the Hep B chapter and the "Immunisation for
Laboratory Staff" chapter re: repeated exposure.

Think we may have worked together at Avesta steel. With regards to Hep B
levels being within the last 5 years, I have no idea where this advice
comes
from. I know that certain agencies do ask for this but I presumed that
this
was due to them not having and OH service and therefore being confused.
As far as I am aware a level of over >100 is accepted as protection
whatever
the year it was taken in.

Can I start another trail of discussion. I'm invovled in paper
screening agency nurses who are placed in the NHS, to ensure
vaccinations
etc are up-to-date. My question relates to the level of evidence that
NHS
colleagues accept as a positive result for Hep B.
At present, the standards from the agency are that I have to see
either a laboratory report or other official report from GP/OH dept with
a
titre level over 100, but it must be dated within 5 years. (Some of you
may
already be aware of this through contact with these nurses asking for
copy
of results). However I am also aware that some Hospital/Trusts are
taking an
alternative view - providing a positive responspe has been seen then no
further levels are needed. I have been directed towards the DOH
guidelines
as well. The latest date for reissue of the'green' book is June, so the
bible is unhelpful.
Basically, my question is - what do you do, and where do you
source
your best practice from? I can discuss changing standards with the
agency
but need to be able to justify the change.
