Hi Paul,
the frequency of retesting would be subject to local policy, taking
onto account frequency and duration of exposure, control measures etc.
Even then, there is mixed evidence about the efficacy of repeat testing
and practice in the NHS is moving away from repeat testing to
self-reporting of symptoms. Some evidence strongly suggests that repeat
testing can induce sensitivity to tuberculin PPD and it is therefore
not giving a true representation of the persons TB status.
We only use a paper screening questionnaire for our TB workers. The
only time we use heaf for exposure monitoring is on those who have had a
significant exposure eg performed mouth to mouth resuscitation or
repeated chest physiotherapy without protection.
I do not know what PASA is as we work from the 2000 British Thoracic
Society guidelines - I can let you have these if necessary.
Regards
Paul

Hi Folks,
Anyone know off the top of their heads, what(if any) schedule for
retesting non immune staff, i.e. those who did not have access to a
BCG
programme or those who have refused it. The draft guidelines drawn up
by PASA does not mention it. I personally think every two years
unless
of course they have had contact in the mean time. I have yet to
really
look into this but thought I would check you guys out first.
Regards
Paul
