Hi Greta
I noticed your CPD in the OH Journal.....very interesting.
To all:
I am in the process of re looking at policies from infection control to manual handling etc etc. Is there anyone out there who would like to share any info please?

CRB checks would be the responsibility of the HR department, not OH, for anyone working with children or vulnerable adults. As a Community 1st Responder we all have to be CRB checked and its not much fun! The form is 4 pages long and you are required to submit originals of birth, marriage and divorce certificates together with full bank and NI details. You must produce your driving licence or passport and a recent utility bill to the person from the organisation who is applying. They then verify you are who you say you are, check your documents and sign the form.
From what I understand the Head Teacher did not even take up references let alone complete the CRB forms!!!

Subject: Re: working with children and babies
Hi Helen,
whilst we don't use a specific PEHS form for those working with children and babies much of our generic form applies.
This would include immunity proof to TB, Rubella and of course Varicella.
Other items apply, for example muscular skeletal issues, as the role would involve manual handling. So this form should cover all avenues. Obviously a CRB check is paramount, but given the recent events in Soham I wonder about how effective these are, what do others think?
Hope this helps,
Regards,
