Hi Shirley,
Yes we do Hep C and Hep B antigen testing on Midwifery students Due to the
small risk of being Hep B antigen Positive and still having a good antibody
response. We get the students to sign a consent for and send the bloods
under a confidential number.
Saghir.

Subject: Screening for Midwifery Students
We have just recently implemented Hepatitis C screening for
midwifery students in compliance with DOH guidance. Is anyone doing
Hepatitis B Surface Antigen for midwifery students before offering them the
vaccine.
This was a recommendation in the draft guidance - Health Clearance
for Serious Communicable Diseases which is still under review.
Thanks
