From Anglian Water
Hello Sharon
We have actually run two of these health fairs. We called the first one the 'Health Trail' which employees embarked upon, visiting stands on sport and exercise, nutrition, drugs and alcohol awareness and relaxation. Each of us OHA's had a stand to man and enlisted back up from, local colleges (sports science students...good for them to meet their public!) I also had Steve Cramm open the some of the fairs / man the stand for my sporty bit which was a crowd puller), home economists from 'Seafish', Sainsbury's etc.
Each attendee had a quiz sheet for which the answers could be found on the stands and we included the evaluation on the back. Once this was completed we gave them a treat size bar of chocolate (Just our humour!!) and they were entered in a prize draw for gift vouchers etc.
Our second one included, mental health awareness (Changing Minds Campaign is an excellent background for this, Men's health, Travel health and Home hygiene.
Initially you need to sort out how much of a budget you will have and what you actually want to get over to the folks. We took a subject each and developed it. It took us 3 weeks to get around the business, it was hard work but good fun and the feedback we received was very positive. Don't forget feeding the troops either when working out your budget!
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
Mary

One of the companies that I work for are interested in holding a "Health
week" where we put displays, presentations, exercise classes etc on. The
aim of it will be to promote healthy heart and mind awareness.
Have any of you ever done something like this? I would be interested to
learn what you think worked and if any part of it turned out to be a turkey.
Also - thanks very much for the advice about release of medical
information - this list is priceless for being able to get support and
validation that those of us on our own are on the right track!
Best Wishes
Sharon
