If you look under First Aid on the HSE Website they give advice upon blood
borne viruses, but basically it comes down to your assessment of risk
I feel that ensuring that first aiders wear personal protection is more
important as there is no vaccine currently available for Hep C or HIV.
If first aiders are attending to high numbers of bleeding wound then it
would probably be justifiable.

Good afternoon,
Can any one throw light on the following:-I have not long taken up my
current position and we have about 60
first aiders on site of which 8 are first responders. None have ever been
vaccinated with Hep B the company are happy to provide this service but are
questioning the cost of obtaining hep b levels post Hep B Course.
Do we have a legal onligation to do this?
