Dear Helen
I was suprised to read that your employers are reluctant to implememt a
stress policy. As you know, stress is a worldwide issue and is being
recognised more and more - we have a stress prevention and management
policy in place as well as a work life balance policy and many other
policies surrounding both of these topics. I personally feel it sends
out a positive message to staff and reduces the stigma that
unfortunately surrounds the "S" word. We also have an on site gym who
may have some info on physical activity policy - I will find out for
you. If you do get some info on such a policy however, I would be
interested in this too.

Does anyone out there have any advice or guidance on Mantal Health
policies and Physical Activity policies.
Our local managers are not keen on implementing a stress policy as the
current HR manager stated that when they implemented one in their
previous employment sickness absence due to stress rose by 10%!!! They
would however consider a Mental Health policy dealing with all aspect of
mental health !! They are also considering a physical activity policy as
this has come as a 'do it now' suggestion from the parent company in the
States.
Any help advice or examples would be gratefully received.
Thank you,
Helen
