Thanks for your comments, some really useful info.
We actually have 2 fully qualified smoking cessation advisors onsite
already and run group or individual consultations. We then send letters to
gps who issue the prescriptions. The employee then normally pays the cost
of the prescription for thier NRT or zyban. The only change to this cycle
we would like is to foot the bill for the prescription. Since we dont give
out cash from our dept our thoughts are to possibly dispensing the NRT
through our sessions on site, possibly liasing with the local chemist.
The local smoking cessation co-ordinator is on board but she has not heard
of a scheme like this where the employer pays for the prescriptions.
