A quick announcement - after all it is October 1st 2004!
Two courses that may be of interest to OH professionals and are related to
discussions of recent times are::
1. Using ergonomic tools and methods
The course covers a number of ergonomic methods when examining posture.
These being PLIBEL (identifying ergonomic hazards), NIOSH MSD survey, The
Power Zone, DMQ (Dutch MSD), QEC (Quick Exposure Check), REBA and RULA,
Strain Index, using PDA's checklists to check posture (US Army),
observation, verbal protocol analysis, applied cognitive work analysis
(ACWA) and Mental Workload..
The course is suitable for those interested in using new tools to examine,
monitor and record working postures.

2. Undertaking personal risk assessments for disabled workers
A course designed for those that are required to undertake risk assessments
for disabled workers. The course offers a framework by which to look at
disability (sesory, physical and cognitive) and offers a number of
approaches that a risk assessor can utilise. By working through case
studies, the risk assessor will gain a good understanding of how to make
reasonable adjustments and the type of equipment that is available to help
them achieve this.
