In my experience this is usually because:
they think they need to know diagnosis labels
and
they find their OH service ONLY provides them with the actionable advice on
reasonable adjustments that they actually need.
They are thus free to discriminate on the basis of their subjective opinion
on diagnosis!
So, what do you do? Well, maybe write some case studies to show them the
potential for liability for discrimination or unfair dismissal if they
decide to terminate someone on the basis of medical information, not
Occupational Health translation of that into advice on reasonable
adjustments.
How cynical am I?!?!?!?
