Hi Alan
Using a footrest like the Hag footrest allows the legs to move, which
improves cicculation and reduces muscle loading. The rocking motion provides
gentle movement from the mid lumbar to the tip of the toes. This type of
product is great for people who have sit for long periods, unless they have
the potential for going into spasm (cerebral palsy, MS). One drawback of the
Hag is that it can slip across the floor, but in general all my clients have
notice a lot of difference.
Hag have underaken a number of studies into dynamic seating which touch on
their footrest. I do not have the references at hand but will forward if I
can locate.
Hope this helps.
Duncan
