Who agreed there is no need? It depends how far you feel GP's are equipped
to manage work related skin complaints etc and other occupationally related
complaints, and also how closely you are aligned to infection control and
primary care. It is my experience that steroids are often prescribed without
emolients or any of the occupational factors considered and that GPs welcome
our advice and intervention. The move towards developing nurse roles in
terms of first contact care and nurse practitioners really made me think
about how we could act more effectively in practice. I think it may be
different outside of the NHS setting, and I peronally felt the need to know
more clinically about the advice we give as specialist advisors and enhance
the outcome for the patient.

Just interested to know what you are prescribing and in what sort of
context? I thought it had been agreed by OH nurses that there was no need
for OH nurses to prescribe - so I am really interested to know - are there
others out there as well who would be interested to know?
