Hmmm - let's focus on information exchange and remember to avoid
attracting any criticism for self promotional opportunities.

Subject: Info on DRM Training in Afghanistan/S.Africa
Greetings from Down Under
It was good meeting John Twigg during my recent visit to Europe in
September. Good luck to you, Philip, in taking over this coordination
role of Philip's.
Just to let you know that in Down Under we have been teaching Disaster
Risk Management (DRM) as part of the AID 724 Unit for Deakin
University's distance education graduate program in International &
Community Development
(ICD) - see www.deakin.edu.au/arts/postgrad for more details. The ICD
program is Australia's oldest, largest and we think, best, development
studies course in the country.
I actually both teach part-time at Deakin on the ICD program, but also
work as an aid practitioner/consultant, with my company TorqAid
(www.torqaid.com), with DRM and training being a couple of my
specialities. You might want to look at the Australian Development
Gateway website to see details of two forthcoming DRM workshops I will
be facilitating in Afghanistan (7-9 dec) and S.Africa (1-3 Feb) over the
coming months. See
www.developmentgatewa.com.au/jahia/Jahia/lang/en/pid/175 for these
details...
I have an interesting two page summary (in point form) on the key
principles and issues relating to the development of Disaster Risk
Management Plans (DRMPs), as well as a one-pager on the key aspects to
consider in a DRMP. I'm happy to share these with people who are
interested.
Please note my email is [log in to unmask]
Cheers

his management. When I'm fully comfortable with the technical aspects of
the list I'll suggest some issues and directions we might follow.

we have to deal with but it seems to me that through networks such as
this the sharing of information can expedite searches and exchanges
which might otherwise take up more of our time.
