"Configurational energy landscapes and structural transitions in clusters,
fluids and biomolecules" Royal Society Discussion Meeting, April 19-20 2004
It is still possible to register for this meeting. It will be held at the
Royal Society in London and attendance is free. Details can be found at
https://www.royalsoc.ac.uk/events/ and you can register via
https://www.royalsoc.ac.uk/events/forms/apr04_form.htm
The meeting will be highly interdisciplinary, and will cover topics ranging
from structure and dynamics of molecular clusters, through collective
phenomena such as the glass transition and polyamorphism, to protein
folding and denaturation. The central theme will be provided by the
concept of the energy landscape, that is studied in great detail by
experiment and theory for small molecules, and that is invoked as a more
general concept in studies of glasses, liquids and biomolecules. We have
assembled an interdisciplinary cast of speakers:
Ahmed Zewail, Martin Karplus, David Wales, Michele Parrinello, Carol
Robinson, Roger Miller, C Austen Angell, Chris Dobson, Peter Wolynes, John
Finney, Rich Saykally, Gene Stanley, Roland Winter, Peter Poole.
The meeting will take the format of 30 minute invited lectures followed by
discussion that is published.
The organisers of the meeting are Paul McMillan (Royal Institution and
University College London, [log in to unmask]) and David Clary (University of
Oxford, [log in to unmask]).
