Dear colleagues,
We have picosecond Nd:YAG laser system (B.M.I. Model 502). As
saturable absorber the QS1 dye (9740@Kodak,cyanine or merocyanine) was used in
Dichloro-1,2-ethane (from Fluka or Merck). Unfortunately, in ~ 2 days period after
dissolution of the dye in dichlorethane the solution becomes from dark
red to the green and can not be used as Q-switch. We know that this
effect is due to the acidity of the dichlorethane. May be somebody
knows what kind of methods or chemical compounds could be used to stabilize
dye+dichloethane solution and (or?) to shift PH level to the base side?
Best Regards
Dmitry Starukhin
