Dreyfus Postdoctoral Scholarship in Environmental Chemistry at UC Irvine.
Postdoctoral Scholarship in Environmental Chemistry is available
immediately at the University of California at Irvine. The scholar will
participate in highly collaborative research in atmospheric chemistry
within the Departments of Chemistry (with Profs. Blake, Finlayson-Pitts,
Hemminger, Nizkorodov, and Tobias), Earth System Science (with Prof.
Saltzman), and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (with Prof. Dabdub).
The potential research topics include the role of halogen radicals in the
chemistry of the lower atmosphere; the role of interfacial processes in
the atmosphere; molecular dynamics simulations of aerosol/air interfaces;
distribution of hydrocarbons and halocarbons in Earth’s atmosphere;
atmospheric surface chemistry of alkali halide and aluminum oxide
particles; modeling of local air pollution chemistry; chemistry of organic
aerosol particles. In the spirit of this scholarship program, strong
preference will be given to outstanding recent PhD graduates trained in
areas other than environmental sciences. This two-year scholarship comes
with $45000/year of salary and with additional support for the
professional development of the scholar. Please send your detailed CV, a
statement outlining your future research and career plans, and two
reference letters to Dr. Sergey Nizkorodov, Department of Chemistry, 516
Rowland Hall, University of California, Irvine, CA 92697-2025, USA or
