Dear Colleagues,
Please disseminate this job announcement to others who may be
interested. Thanks!
Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biology and Biophysics
A postdoctoral Research Associate Position is available to work with
Prof. J. Fetrow in the Departments of Physics and Computer Science at
Wake Forest University. The successful candidate will use various
computational methods to conduct research in the general area of protein
structure/function relationships. This is a three-year position.
Current projects include:
--Development of active site profiling technology (see J Mol Biol. 2003,
334(3):387-401) to incorporate lead/inhibitor identification and
application to structure-based drug discovery
--Modeling of redox signal transduction networks (in collaboration with
researchers in the Biochemistry Department, Wake Forest Medical School)
--Molecular dynamics studies of allostery and non-additivity in proteins
(in collaboration with colleagues at UNC-Chapel Hill)
--Molecular dynamics of protein functional sites with and without bound
inhibitors
Education, Experience and Training: Applicants must have significant
experience in conducting research in the area of protein structure,
function or structure-based drug discovery as evidenced by accepted or
published manuscripts or presentations at conferences. A PhD in
biophysics, biochemistry, computer science (with knowledge of biomedical
sciences) or related discipline is required, or an equivalent
combination of education and related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Applicants must have an understanding of
protein structure and function relationships and knowledge of commonly
used software in the study of protein structure and function. Although
the specific language is not important, applicants should have the
ability to write and edit basic computer programs and scripts.
Wake Forest University is a highly selective, private university located
in Winston-Salem, located within the Piedmont Triad region of North
Carolina. The cities of Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill, comprising the
